Visitor Visa For UK

Time is often of the essence and we can support you every step of the way. We will listen to you carefully to understand the reasons for your visit. Detail is essential for these applications to succeed. If you wish to visit the United Kingdom for a short period of time (six months or less), and you are not from one of the countries exempted for short visits then you must apply for a standard visitors visa to enter the UK.

What is a UK Standard Visitor Visa?

The Standard Visitor Visa has replaced the:

  • Family Visitor Visa
  • Child Visitor Visa
  • Business Visitor Visa
  • General Visitor Visa
  • Sports Visitor Visa
  • Entertainment Visitor Visa
  • Prospective Entrepreneur Visa
  • Private and Medical Treatment Visitor Visa
  • Approved Destination Status Visa

People from most countries must obtain a UK Standard Visitor Visa to enter the UK as a tourist, attend a business conference, visit family and friends or obtain private medical treatment.

This visa allows you to conduct business activities subject to relevant conditions and represent a foreign business in the UK for a period of up to six months. It also allows attendance to study for up to 30 days if you wish, as long as it’s not the main reason for your visit. If you are under 18, you can also take part in an educational visit or exchange programmed. Academics coming to the United Kingdom on a sabbatical are permitted to remain up to 12 months, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

It is highly recommended that the visa application is prepared meticulously because they are getting refused for even minor errors hence asking a Solicitor to check your application at the outset is well worth the cost and investment.

What are the eligibility requirements for a UK Standard Visitor Visa?

What are the eligibility requirements for a UK Standard Visitor Visa?

One of the most important factors UK Visas and Immigration will be requiring is proof that you will leave the United Kingdom at the end of your visit and not try and remain in the United Kingdom after the expiry of your UK Standard Visitor Visa expires.

To establish this, they may look at your past immigration history, how often you travel to the United Kingdom, whether you have a return flight home booked and how plausible your reason for visiting the United Kingdom is, bearing in mind your background.

We have extensive experience and knowledge of helping applicants’ complete UK Standard Visitor Visa application forms and gathering together the necessary documents that UK Visas and Immigration will scrutinise when considering whether to approve a request.

What can I do if my UK Standard Visitor Visa application is refused?

The refusal rate for a UK Standard Visitor Visa is quite high. Refusal can affect your plans but also most importantly your immigration history. If your UK Standard Visitor Visa is refused, you may be able to reapply, depending on the grounds for refusal. Factors like forgetting to include key documentation like a bank statement, reapplication and a covering letter from one of your solicitors is likely to result in success.

However, if your UK Standard Visitor Visa has been rejected because you have been barred from the United Kingdom for a set period of time; or if UK Visas and Immigration does not believe you are a genuine visitor who plans to leave the UK on expiry of the visit visa, there is hardly any point in re-submitting the same documentation and a legal challenge may be necessary.

An appeal against a UK Standard Visitor Visa refusal can only be made on Human Rights grounds. You will have to challenge this through Judicial Review. These cases can be extremely complex but we have an outstanding reputation for achieving successful results in UK Standard Visitor Visa appeals.

Initially, we can issue a Pre-action protocol letter, warning the Home Office that you plan to challenge their decision to reject your application on the grounds detailed in the letter. In numerous cases, this could be the only step required to get a UK Standard Visitor Visa granted.

Is it possible to extend my UK Visitor Visa?

You can extend your UK Visitor Visa if there are compelling and compassionate circumstances such as serious illness which prevents you from travelling.

How long will it take to receive my UK Visitor Visa?

It can take approximately three weeks to find out if your visa has been granted. Time length can vary from country to country.

Rapid Reversal of Refusal Decisions of Standard Visitor Visa applications

We will work with you to try and get your Standard Visitor Visa refusal application overturned quickly.

Successful first time UK Standard Visitor Visa Applications

It is advisable to initially instruct a highly experienced Immigration Solicitor to look over your initial application and supporting documents to give your application the best chances of success. These applications can be stressful and time consuming. You must work with us and be 100% truthful on your application, provide all of the required documentation and ensure the documentation is presented in chronological order.
